What we work on
The company's main focus is data storage and operating systems software. Storage and the operating system are where much of a system's functional foundations and real constraints live: what it can promise about durability, what it costs to keep a performance promise, and how much of a device's capability is realized through its interfaces.
Much of the interesting work in this area comes down to interfaces and assumptions — a caching policy built for a workload that no longer exists, a storage device whose distinctive properties are invisible because it has to look like a disk, a distributed system wasting potential performance by inefficiently maintaining the illusion that it is a local one. PACEtree is particularly capable at engaging with such questions.
We offer two threads
Consulting and development is the main work: design review, implementation, assessment, and training for organizations building systems software.
Our own products are the second thread — software and media.
